Asthma Education

Asthma is a respiratory disease that causes the airways to narrow, and can often the result of exposure to various triggers such as an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress.  Constriction symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, or coughing, and can be alleviated by medicines called bronchodilators.

If you have asthma, Medlandia Pharmacists can help you:

  • Identify, avoid and control asthma triggers
  • Monitor your asthma
  • Use inhalers correctly and effectively
There are different medication approaches to managing Asthma symptoms. Bronchodilators provide short-term relief. Long acting corticosteroids decrease the inflammation in your lungs to help prevent asthma attacks. Corticosteroid inhalers decrease the need for short term relief (bronchodilators), and both medications may be prescribed to Asthma patients for complete management.
Asthma patients are encouraged to learn more and talk to a Medlandia Pharmacist.
